Program Description

Event Details

Join the DSM Street Collective for a trailside repair class where we’ll cover how to change a tube, repair your chain, and other common problems that strike when you’re out riding the bike path.  

What you’ll need to bring:

      1. your bike and your willingness to get a bit dirty.  

What we’ll cover:  

  1. Replacing/patching a tube and booting a tire.  
  2. Chain repair and what to do if your chain falls off.  
  3. Minor derailleur adjustments to help you get home in the case of an accident.  

About the Street Collective  

The Des Moines Street Collective (formerly the Des Moines Bike Collective) has provided low-and-no-cost bike education and access since 2008. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Street Collective is dedicated to encouraging and supporting alternatives to cars in Central Iowa through bicycle giveaways, transportation advocacy, and cyclist education.

Older Children Welcome with Parents

Kids in grades 6 and up are welcome to attend this event with a parent or guardian. Both guardian and child will need to be registered and both parties can bring their bikes to the workshop.
