Join speakers from the Johnston Station Historical Society for part one of our series about the history of Johnston, Iowa. Matthew Mikles, the Johnston High School liason for the Johnston Historical Society will dive into geography and ecology of the Johnston area, including information about the creation of the Des Moines River. John Brown, the Past President of the Society will discuss the history of Native people in Johnston and Mary Jane Paez, a charter member of the Society and 13-year President will talk about accounts of early European settlers and pioneer cemeteries found in Johnston. This September event is the first of a 3-part series on the history of Johnston, Iowa. Please join us on October 15th and November 12th for parts 2 and 3 of this series.
